I am an international student who does not hold British or Irish nationality
Prior to collecting your card on campus, you must ensure that you've completed the following stages of enrolment. For more information, read our Student Services Online article I’m a new student, how do I complete enrolment?
- Stage 1: Online enrolment
- Stage 2: Essential training. Within Student Records, go to 'My Training' on the right-hand side where you’ll be asked to follow further instructions to complete your essential training courses.
- Stage 3: Right to Study check (please note that even if you hold settled status or have an indefinite right to remain, you are still required to complete the Right to Study check)
How do I collect my student ID card?
You must complete your Right to Study check as soon as you arrive in the UK. To do this, you'll need to complete stage 1 of enrolment then log into Student Records with your K number and password, selecting the 'Right to Study check' tab at the top of the screen.
Processing your Right to Study submission can take up to three working days as the Visa Compliance team needs to review and approve your documents.
Once you pass the Right to Study check, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to book a time slot for collecting your student ID card.
Student ID card collection slots are available from 09.30 every weekday from Monday 6 January – Friday 17 January 2025. There is no postal option.
Please ensure you collect your student ID card at the time you have booked, or the service may not be open.
What do I need to bring with me?
To collect your student ID card, you will need to bring the following:
- Your student ID card collection slot booking confirmation email
- Your Right to Study check confirmation email
- Your passport (not a photocopy), so we can confirm your identity. For more information, read our article What proof of identity do I need to provide to collect my student ID card?
We recommend you download copies of the emails onto your phone for easy access.
I hold British or Irish nationality
Please note that if you are a dual national (you hold British or Irish nationality and the nationality of another country), you should follow the process below.

Once you have completed Stages 1 and 2 of enrolment, please use the Welcome to King’s app to find out how to book your time slot.
