In this email:Register with a GPIf you haven't done so already, we strongly encourage you to register with an NHS GP (General Practitioner) when you arrive on campus to access health services. At King’s, we have our own NHS Health Centre that students can join for free. Our article How can I register with a doctor and/or dentist? provides guidance on how to register with a GP for the first time. Before starting at King’s, we also advise that you get certain vaccines as they are the best defence against severe illness. If you have already had them, you may need to bring a record when registering with a GP. Find out all the details on Student Services Online. You may have heard there has been an increase in cases of measles in London and the UK. The best way to protect yourself and prevent the spread of measles is to have two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine. Find out more in our article What do I need to know about measles? You can also contact the King's NHS Health Centre for advice if you’re registered with them. Get support for a disabilityIf you have a disability, mental health condition, long term medical condition, autism or a specific learning difference such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or ADHD, there are plenty of services and resources available to support you throughout your time at King’s. Visit Disability Support & Inclusion to find out about the support you may be eligible for during your studies, such as how to receive a support plan and adjustments for exams and assessments, and how to apply for disability-related funding. We encourage you to register with the Disability Support & Inclusion service as soon as possible if you haven’t done so already. Take care of your wellbeingIt's important to look after ourselves. From Counselling & Mental Health Support to Faculty Wellbeing & Welfare Advisors, exercise classes to mindfulness sessions, there are a variety of resources to help you take care of your health and wellbeing throughout your student journey. We also have a collective responsibility to look after others in the community, so take some time to familiarise yourself with the King’s Community Charter, which explains how you can help us ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging and safety at King's. King’s students can access free and confidential online mental health support from Togetherall. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any device with an internet connection. Mandarin-speaking students can also register to talk to a Mandarian-speaking Health Advisor about navigating our mental and physical health services. King's College London Students' Union (KCLSU) are also here to ensure that your wellbeing is positively supported.
